See It
My vision for a better community and world is one in which every transgender man feels at home and comfortable in his body and daily life, and my idea for making it happen is to produce medical prosthetics and other products so transmen (female-to-male transsexuals) can live happy, comfortable, functional lives as men.
Believe It
The transgender community is one of the most oppressed groups of people in existence today. My project is designed to allow transgender men to live their lives more comfortably as men. My project would produce 20 medical urinary devices for transgender men to allow them to urinate in a standing position, as well as 10 medical pumps to prepare the transman for lower surgery. These products, especially the prosthetic urinary device, would allow trangender men to function as males in a way most men take for granted. This project is also important because the transmale community does not have enough products available to them in general, and many are economically disadvantaged and cannot afford what is on the market anyway. This project would benefit 30 economically disadvanted transmen from communities around the world.
Build It
I have not started this project yet because funds are needed to buy the medical equipment, but if awarded, I will be able to purchase the supplies to make 20 medical prosthetics and 10 medical pumps. I have made a press release on Youtube and have generated interest in the project. I will continue to generate interest over the internet, as that is the medium in which the transgender community connects most frequently.
How Can Others Get Involved?
Others can help locally by donating time and labor to my project, and people around the world can help by passing on the information through the internet to transgender men who would benefit from my products.

I wholeheartedly endorse this idea and product. It helps my brothers, transmen (female-to-male transsexuals), to feel at home and comfortable in their bodies and live happy, comfortable and productive lives as men.

I strongly support Charlie's proposal. Many transmen have severe financial difficulties and simple packers and vacuum pumps can help boost their self confidence greatly. Charlie is well known as a great guy who has spent considerable personal resources to help those transmen in need and this project would be an extension of his previous work. He has also demonstrated efficient and effective use of money and can be trusted to use the funding money efficiently.
This is probably one of the most unique ideas around. Because not many people are educated about the transgender community, this project not only creates awareness and acceptance of trans people but also gives hope to those unable to afford these one-of-a-kind devices. This project especially affects me because I consider myself an ftm, yet I haven't been able to move on with transitioning because of a variety of reasons. If this project is chosen, I feel it will benefit many guys like me and help us live life with a sense of confidence and do everyday things that most people take for granted much more comfortably. Since this isn't a well-known issue, Free to Be He is truly an original project that will help many individuals who can't even find anything like this anywhere else.
There's a glaring issue with this project. Dosomething.org is targeted at teenagers. The creator of this project is 24 years old. Aside from his lack of credentials to claim he will be manufacturing 'medical prosthetics', Charles fails to meet a basic eligibility requirement.
This particular grant is for people 25 and under. Being 24, I DO in fact meet the requirements.
That still does not change the fact that you are not qualified to produce a 'medical prosthetic', especially if one of the products in this grant app is something you've never attempted to make.
I understand the physics behind lift, drag and thrust, so you can support my grant for personal flying device next.
I watched your new video. You're right, there is no credential needed to make a STP, but you also can't claim this is a 'medical prosthetic.' A fake limb is a medical prosthetic. Hell, even a fake ear qualifies. The people who create these extremely helpful items train for this. You're not casting penises out of silicone, you're heating up a screwdriver. FAIL.
Oh, and I'm not the person who commented on your video.
Charles is doing what invention in America is about....making a better mouse trap. He has taken a couple of products available and made them useable by transmen as STP devices. I don't know what sex you are Nerdgod but if you are male and woke up tomorrow morning without your penis, I bet you too would place an order with Charles. I have been watching Charles for months now and I believe he and his girlfriend are trying to make products for the FTM community more "user friendly"
Nitpicking the wording doesn't discredit the deed. It's still a project that will help people be able to live better. Not only more comfortably, but without fear. It can be really scary going into a public restroom, wondering if someone is going to notice that you are sitting down to pee, or can hear the toilet paper roll spin after the obvious sound of peeing. Good luck, Charles.
Charles is a wonderful man that is always helping out the trans-community. He makes products that help trans-guys get back some much needed self esteam. He shares himself on a very open level to HELP OUT! I know he has helped my trans man get the confidence to come out and be him self. His prostetics are of good quality he's just trying to help some lower incomed guys out. Pretty noble I think.
This is an excellent concept. Many men suffer greatly for not having been born "whole" anatomically. There are many more men dealing with this problem than is widely known and many who cannot afford a prosthesis.
There appears to be inconsiderate feedback from someone with the username "nerdgod" regarding this project concept. I hope that the reviewer(s) will regard "nergod's" comments as something other than constructive feedback. Although the products in question may not fit the catagory of 'medical' devices per se, the fact that they may assist some men to feel more anatomically ''whole" should justify the products' consideration for a grant.
Thank you.
I support Charles' products. Myself as a transman cannot afford the products Charles is making and he give amazing feedback and help via youtube as well. I feel the project will benefit the community greatly. So Thanks to Charles.
What a great project; I think this under served community really needs something positive like this!
Nerdgod has made several inaccurate statements to discourage this grant and has made no constructive comments (i.e. such as ways it could be done better or more efficiently) and has not shown that the devices are unnecessary. I don't know what Nerdgod's real problem is, but his comments are typical of the irrational and hostile comments transmen encounter regularly. Unfortunately, these attitudes are occasionally expressed violently. Devices such as those proposed allow transmen to stand to pee which enables them to not be noticed by the haters. So the devices also are a personal safety item for transmen.
What you do for the trans communtity is great you are a awesome man and I support your project you deserve it and many thanks again
