The Problem
Over the summer, many students experience a serious loss in reading skills, which puts them at a big disadvantage the following year. This is called the “summer slide,” and it has the biggest impact on low-income students, who often don’t have access to summer learning programs.
The Solution
The good news is, public libraries are shown to reduce the summer slide...especially if they carry books students find intriguing, enticing, or even a little forbidden. (Gasp!)
Donate a book to a library and include one of our "warning" bookmarks to grab a young reader’s attention.
