Problem

With 4.5 trillion discarded each year, cigarette butts are the most-littered item on the planet and the single greatest source of ocean trash. Cigarette butts contain plastic that can take at least 10 years to degrade, and the toxins and carcinogens in cigarettes can seep into soil and water, negatively impacting the environment for both animals and humans.

Solution

Pledge to clean up and properly dispose of cigarette butts! Removing them from our environment protects humans, animals, and ocean life. That’s why DoSomething members like you have cleaned up 4.8 million butts already!

You’ll earn verified volunteer credits and inspire others with your efforts.
