Problem

Electing prom courts is an exciting way to celebrate deserving friends and classmates. And like many traditions, prom courts could use a little update to make it inclusive for all students.

Do we always have to elect one “King” who’s a boy, and one “Queen” who’s a girl? What about choosing two boys, or two girls, as winners? How about giving a chance to students who are trans, gender non-binary, or gender non-conforming?

Solution

Overthrow the Crown! Learn how you can update the tradition of a gender-specific prom court with a gender-inclusive one at your school. After all, everyone should have a shot at being prom royalty.
