2. Teacher Strikes

Following major strikes across the United States in states and even cities like Los Angeles, teachers in Denver went on strike this past week for the first time in 25 years demanding better salary and benefits. The strike ended with better pay for teachers, but districts being able to keep bonuses at their discretion. Most notably, students kept joining the strike, marching on snow-lined sidewalks to demand better pay for their teachers; a remarkable testament to the priorities and power of young people.

3. 21 Savage Released

A couple weeks ago, famed rapper 21 Savage, whose real name is She’yaa Bin Abraham-Joseph, was arrested by ICE. The agency claims that the rapper overstayed a visa from the UK and criminally charged him to be deported. As Buzzfeed News reports, "US government attorneys have dropped an “aggravated felony” charge as grounds to deport the rapper from the country in immigration court on Tuesday." An expedited hearing will be taking place to determine the outcome, while Abraham-Joseph has been released on bond.
