In battleground Wisconsin, young voters could play a huge role in November's presidential election. The national group DoSomething.org was on UWM's campus on Wednesday to ask young people to share their pressing issues. The group also registered people to vote.

For many members of Gen Z (including DoSomething members), this is the first presidential election they’ll be voting in. And unlike previous generations, what is driving them to show up to the polls are the issues they’re most passionate about — not necessarily the candidates.

DoSomething, a national youth leadership and civic engagement organization partnered with the YWCA Southeast Wisconsin and famed choreographer and Milwaukee native Frank Gatson Jr. to host the Show Up for Wisconsin event at City Social.
This week, as dozens of University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee students raced to classes or to grab a bite of food from the Student Union, organizers from DoSomething pulled them aside to ask a critical question: Are you registered to vote?
The Star Trek franchise is making a donation to Code.org, DoSomething.org, and Outright International, while also encouraging fans to take on the mission of giving back with this worldwide social activation.
