Car crashes are the leading cause of death for teens in the U.S., and during summer’s “100 Deadliest Days,” the risk goes up by 20%.

Summer = good vibes, late-night drives, and road trips.

But it’s also the most dangerous time to be on the road.

Here’s the deal: Distractions can be deadly! In 2023, 3,275 people were killed in distraction-related crashes, and 5% of drivers in fatal crashes were reported distracted. And in that same year, 59% of teen passenger deaths (ages 13–19) happened in vehicles driven by another teen. Car crashes kill more teens than anything else—and it gets worse in summer.

Here’s what YOU did about it:

SAFE SUMMER SEASON EVENTS

Hundreds of young people joined us for a Safe Summer Season of fun, road safety activations, and events.

Thank you to all the incredible young people and volunteers who took part in our interactive distracted‑driving activations, recorded their own road-safety PSA's at our pledge stations, and snapped some sweet selfies in our photobooth's.

There have been times where I've gotten into a taxi or Uber with others who chose not to wear their seatbelts. It's something so small that can truly have a life saving impact.”
