(Photos) Students Running Nationwide Donation Drive for Prom Outfits
Because *everyone* deserves to look great at prom.
The average high school student will spend more than $1,100 in order to make their prom experience as magical as can be. One big expense? The outfit. Prom should be for everyone, but for many students, it’s too expensive.
This year, DoSomething is running the country's largest youth-led drive for prom formal wear. We asked our members to donate their gently-used prom outfits and they’ve gone above and beyond to make sure every student in their community feels comfortable, confident, and cared for during prom season. See how our members are taking back the prom and find out more about how you can get involved (plus, check out our quick tips for planning a budget-friendly prom night)!

“My school's student store will provide these donated dresses for free! So now we're one step closer to providing everyone with the chance to go to prom, as it should be.”

“I find it extremely rewarding to know that the dresses I am donating will be worn by other individuals who will have the chance to make heartfelt memories in them just as I did in the past.”

“This campaign is important to me because I was a foster child and my foster parents didn’t have much money to get me a prom gown. It means a lot to me that a child in need could use this gorgeous dress that I could only wear once.”

“Prom night is a big part of almost every high school student’s life and I wouldn’t want someone to miss out because they couldn’t afford a dress to wear.”

“I've been donating and helping with the Prom closet since my freshman year. I love helping my fellow classmate feel like a princess, even if it is for just one night.”
