11 Things You Didn’t Know About Jason Genao

Any fan of Netflix’s On My Block is also a fan of the charismatic Ruby Martinez, played by Jason Genao. Besides OMB, the 22-year-old has also been in the X-Men movie Logan and another Netflix original, The Get Down. But what would Jason be doing if he weren’t acting? 1. Jason Genao doesn’t have a plan B after acting, but if Hollywood were to say, “see you later,” he’d probably open a restaurant. Jason really enjoys cooking and almost became a chef!
2. Jason is 100% Dominican. Both of his parents are from the Dominican Republic.
3. His hometown is Jersey City, New Jersey.
4. After failing his first audition, Jason literally googled “how to audition” and, three auditions later, scored a role on The Get Down.
