The Problem

The USDA estimates that 133 BILLION pounds of food are thrown away every year. Not only could much of this food be consumed, it also requires energy to transport and clogs our landfills.

The Solution

Instead of being thrown out, unopened leftover food can be donated through food recovery programs to shelters serving those in need, and partially-consumed foods can be composted.

School cafeterias are the perfect place for food recovery programs. There are tons of students to help, and it doesn't cost your school anything.
