Young People Sent Cards of Support to Every Mosque in America
Over 44,000 cards in total.
Published May 7, 2019.
It’s a scary time for lots of Muslims in the US. Hate crimes towards our Muslim American neighbors have risen dramatically since 2015. Mosques have been vandalized and attacked, government officials have denounced Islam, and anti-Muslim speech is rampant online. No one should fear for their safety because of the color of their skin, what language they speak, or how they pray.
DoSomething members have been leaders in allyship and support to our Muslim American friends and neighbors. In the last two years, our community has made 44,000 Happy Ramadan cards, which were distributed to every mosque in America. Muslim communities across the country replied with messages of heartfelt thanks for your generosity during these difficult times.
Check out cards from young people and thank-yous from mosques below. Then learn how you can make cards to celebrate Eid al-Fitr (June 5-7) this year.

“Our deepest regards and love for all in the DoSomething organization. The beautiful cards spoke more effectively than any Orpheus about what America is and how inclusive and all-embracing Americans can be. And so are Muslims, every inch Americans, in every sense of the word.”

“I want to take this opportunity to thank you and all those who are part of your organization. We loved the cards and it was very touching to do that for Muslims in United States. At this moment of confusion for so many and hatred against Muslims, your actions give us hope.”
