Riding Outside the Bike Lane

Your friend answered three easy questions about your habits as a driver, passenger, pedestrian, or cyclist. Now they want to give you three clutch tips for staying safe on the road! Read this lil’ personal guide on avoiding riding outside the bike lane.

1) Pre-pack your stuff.

Running late for school? Choose an outfit, make your lunch, and pack your backpack the night before. Then it’s no stress (and no rush!) in the morning on the road.

2) Set your clock 5-10 minutes fast.

That way, if you’re running 5-10 minutes late based on your clock, you’re running on time based on everyone else’s.

3. Rack up those steps!

Do you sometimes ride outside the bike lane because it’s more convenient than going around the block to another bike lane? That might be a shorter distance, but taking those extra steps (or pedaling those extra blocks) will make you happier and healthier in the long-run, not to mention safe in the present.

You could save a life on the road.
