Results: You’re a Cell Phone Stroller!
Whether it’s texting, talking, or watching a music video, you’ve been known to have your eyes on your phone...and not on what’s in front of you. We get it: of course you want to watch the newest TikTok trend, but looking down while crossing the street is dangerous. Here’s how to stay connected and safe at the same time.
Text before you walk or ride.
Block off a few minutes to respond to all your texts before you head out.
Pull over!
If you have to respond to something urgent, find an out-the-way place on the sidewalk to send a text or like a photo. You’ll avoid oncoming traffic...and avoid making an awkward typo. Phew!
Do not disturb.
Put your phone on do-not-disturb mode when you’re walking or biking. That way you won’t be tempted to look at your phone on the street, and you’ll get to focus on the joys of the journey. Fresh air! Birds chirping! Other human beings!
...about how well you know your bestie, and share with them a road safety guide. You could earn a $2,000 scholarship!
Keep Your Friends & Family Safe on the Road
Everyone knows speeding is dangerous, but warnings from parents and scare tactics from ads don’t change the behavior of young drivers, passengers, and pedestrians. Know who can? YOU! Share these tips to keep friends and family safe in and around vehicles.
Is your friend constantly DJing behind the wheel?
Tell them to make a playlist before you hit the road!
Is your friend constantly on the brink of road rage?
Make them a playlist of relaxing music for the road. Another idea? Daily meditation...just not while they’re driving (obviously). Send them an app like Headspace, which can be really effective in keeping them calm on the road...and, ya know, everywhere else.
Is your friend always walking across the street while texting?
Suggest that they “pull over” on the sidewalk to send a text or like a photo. They’ll stay safe in the street -- and be less likely to make an awkward typo. Crisis averted!
