11 Things You Should Know About Anna Otis

#7: Her Instagram explore page is pretty much just cute animals, plants, and food.

Name?

Anna Otis

Where are you from?

Princeton, New Jersey

What do you do (at DoSomething)?

Marketing Associate. I handle all things scholarship-related at DoSomething!

1. What’s your pet cause?

Environmental justice and sustainability. Not much matters if there isn’t a planet.

2. Who or what is guaranteed to make you laugh?

My boyfriend, my friends and the 2000 SNL “More Cowbell” comedy sketch.

3. What's something that you watch, read, or listen to to make you feel inspired?

I like to listen to the Good Life Project podcast hosted by Jonathan Fields or read pages from Cleo Wade’s book Heart Talk. Also, any video or photo posted by the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust undoubtedly restores my faith in humanity.

Me and Lady, she brightens up my world.

4. What’s your guilty pleasure?

I’m gonna have to plus one Jackie and say reality TV. I have a soft spot for Jersey Shore. The first season aired my senior year of high school and inspired my group of friends to rent a shore house for a week as a last hurrah before we all left for college.

5. What do people usually come to you for help with?

Emotional support, plant care tips and restaurant recommendations.

6. What is your most overused emoji?

It’s a tie between the sob 😭 and the flushed/embarrassed 😳

7. What takes up too much of your time?

I spend way too much time on Instagram. My explore page is almost entirely composed of videos and photos of cute animals, plants and food.

I love being outdoors — here’s me and my boyfriend skiing/snowboarding in Vermont.

8. What silly accomplishment or hidden talent are you most proud of?

When I was in 3rd grade, I recorded the longest flexed arm hang in my year for the Physical Fitness Test, which basically times how long someone can hang with their chin above a bar.

9. What’s something you know way too much about?

French pastries.

10. What's the biggest change you'd like to see in the world in the next five years?

I want to see immediate worldwide action towards fighting climate change.

In my spare time, I like to draw...I particularly love line drawings, both simple and intricate — here’s a work in progress.

11. What’s your favorite DoSomething memory or tradition?

Karaoke at staff retreat, for sure.
