11 Things You Should Know About Anthony Aurrichio

#7: He spends 5-6 hours each month doing karaoke.

Name and pronouns?

Anthony Aurrichio (he/him)

Where are you from?

Wappingers Falls, NY

What do you do (at DoSomething)?

Digital Engagement Manager. Basically, I oversee the sending of our emails and text messages.

1. What’s your pet cause?

Voter registration and mental health.

2. Who or what is guaranteed to make you laugh?

Too many friends to count, but more importantly: absurd TikToks and absurder tweets.

3. What's something that you watch, read, or listen to to make you feel inspired?

I really enjoy writing (mostly poetry), so whenever I need some inspiration, I always turn to some of my favorite poems. Two of my favorites are “When I Say That Loving Me Is Kind Of Like Being A Chicago Bulls Fan” by Hanif Abdurraqib and “The Opposites Game” by Brendan Constantine.

4. What’s your guilty pleasure?

I don’t necessarily feel guilty about it, but I love going to movie theaters. If I could live in one, you better believe I’d do it.

Friends, music, and shark balloons (oh my!).

5. What do people usually come to you for help with?

When they need a laugh or a good music recommendation!

6. What is your most overused emoji?

🤫. Okay, I know how creepy that looks, but I can’t resist a good weird/sketchy emoji. It’s usually the only comment I leave when I’m Venmo-ing my friends.

7. What takes up too much of your time?

I’m known to karaoke at least once a month for 5-6 hours at a time. So...I’m going to say that. Here's a pretty close outline of my monthly budget.

8. What silly accomplishment or hidden talent are you most proud of?

Last year I was given a trophy as a holiday present for my karaoke performance of “Super Bass” by Nicki Minaj at our staff retreat. It was my first time karaoking and I had no idea that it was about to become a problem for me...

My former colleague Mars and I karaoking Super Bass at our staff retreat.

9. What’s something you know way too much about?

Way too much of my brain is dedicated to song lyrics and professional baseball facts/statistics.

10. What's the biggest change you'd like to see in the world in the next five years?

I’d like to see more de-stigmatization of mental health, especially when it comes to men and toxic masculinity.

11. What’s your favorite DoSomething memory or tradition?

My favorite tradition is that at the end of our weekly staff meetings, someone passes off a big ol’ stuffed animal penguin to a co-worker and showers them with love and praise. It’s always a welcome reminder of what a talented and wonderful group of people work here.

When I was 5 I genuinely tried to convince my dad that my friend (also aged 5) could play in the Major Leagues.
