Your lived experience, curiosity, commitment, and willingness to take action matter more than polish.

DoCrew is a paid program and opportunity for emerging young adult leaders who want to use their voice to help inspire action. As a DoCrew member, you'll represent a cause you care about, create content for DoSomething's social channels, share your perspective, and help other young people discover ways to make an impact.

Over the course of the year, you'll work alongside the DoSomething team, build storytelling and media skills, connect with other changemakers, and help show what youth leadership looks like in real life.

• Be at least 18 years old when the DoCrew term begins.
• Live in the United States.
• Be a current DoSomething member (or create a free account before applying).
• Be available to participate throughout the DoCrew term.
• Attend the required virtual orientation (on October 8) and regular check-ins.
• Be excited about creating short-form, storytelling content like videos, photos, and written reflections.
• Have access to a smartphone or another device capable of recording video and joining virtual meetings.
• Be willing to comply with DoSomething’s applicable policies and guidelines, including policies concerning confidentiality, privacy, social media, use of the organization’s name and intellectual property and appropriate online conduct.
• Complete all required application, consent and participation documents and an agreement before beginning the program.
• Be legally eligible to work in the United States.

No. We're not looking for the biggest following. We're looking for authentic stories and young people who care about making a difference. We want people who care about an issue, are taking action in their own way, and strive to keep learning and growing.

Each DoCrew member represents one of four focus areas:

• Walk the Walk – Equity, justice, economic mobility, belonging, and service
• No Planet B – Climate action, sustainability, and environmental justice
• Thrive On – Mental health, safety, and wellbeing
• Be Heard – Community voice, democracy, advocacy, and participation

When you apply, you'll tell us which area you're most passionate about.

As a DoCrew member, you'll:

• Create approximately one to two pieces of social content each week.
• Share stories and perspectives related to your issue area.
• Participate in monthly virtual check-ins.
• Collaborate with DoSomething staff on content and campaigns.
• Occasionally participate in media opportunities and other special projects.
• Help inspire more young people to take action.

Plan for approximately 15–20 hours each month. That includes creating content, participating in meetings or coaching sessions, responding to feedback, supporting occasional campaigns, and sharing reflections about your experience. While we expect that the opportunity will continue for a one-year period, DoSomething reserves the right to end the period earlier at its discretion and for programmatic needs.

Yes. Each selected DoCrew member receives $250 (less taxes, etc.) every two weeks for successfully completing the agreed-upon responsibilities for the duration of your contract, along with leadership and media training, one-on-one mentorship, hands-on content creation experience, and the opportunity to build a portfolio of published work.

Your application includes:

• An online form which includes 8 short answers (150 words or less).
• A 60-90-second video introducing yourself and sharing:
  • What you do
  • Why it matters to you
  • What you hope to inspire other young people to do

Don't worry about fancy editing. Recording on your phone is completely okay. We're much more interested in your perspective than your production quality.

Applications close September 21, 2026 at 11:59 PM PST.

If you're selected as a finalist, you may be invited to a virtual interview before the final four DoCrew members are chosen.

After applications close:

1. The DoSomething team reviews applications and videos.
2. Finalists are invited to interview.
3. Four DoCrew members are selected.
4. Selected members attend virtual orientation before beginning their DoCrew experience.
