THE COLLECTIVE IMPACT

MIND CRAFT

Mind Craft inspires members to showcase through various forms of creative expression, be it art, dance, or music, what best helps them tackle stress and anxiety. Upon completion, members have the opportunity to earn different incentives including a $2,000 scholarship or a year-long Sketchbox art kit subscription to nurture their artistic practice.

CREATOR SERIES

Social influencers took part in Mind Craft by demonstrating how their craft of choice supports their mental health journey and sharing an original piece of art. The video series reached over 70,000 people, inspiring members with creative ways to join in.

Mind Craft Meditation (yeah, we are making that a thing, now 😊) brought to you by abstract artist and our #CampReboot friend, @erica_helder

ART SHOWCASE

It’s the big art show opening at Camp Reboot! We are featuring selections from the incredible art young people created through Mind Craft and how it contributed to improving their self-care routine.

Painting of a bird

🎨 GRACE, TEXAS

"Painting this Bluejay inspired me to give myself a break from scrutinizing my art pieces. Typically, I have a hard time seeing the beauty in my art, and making this Bluejay helped me to overcome my self-criticism.

Drawing of a creature with a green mask over its eyes

🖌️ JAAHLIL, GEORGIA

"Creating this work of art has been an invaluable tool in helping me navigate and overcome a mental health challenge, while also providing essential support for my self-care routine.

Portrait of a young woman

🎨 AYANA, CONNECTICUT

"Making this piece of artwork helped me with my mental health because it helped me understand how my mind works. I painted a picture of myself with a partly colorful background and a partly dark background.

" "

🎵 NATALYA, GEORGIA

"I once took a lesson telling me it was better to tell someone about the emotions that have been upsetting me. Most of my life I’ve never told people how I felt because it was hard and I would mostly end up breaking down. Play the audio

Text: "Above our heads. What's that on the ceiling? A chandelier made of flesh. It's hung from a short rope, tightly wound around its neck. It swings in the light breeze that travels through the many windows. People walk under this fleshy handing object without ever noticing it. And those who do, quickly look away and try to forget they saw it, for the horror makes them want to crawl under the stairs and claw out their eyes. Every day a new chandelier is added to the ceiling. Sometimes you can still hear them trying to breathe and sometimes they wriggle and thrash to try and be free."

📝 ERICA, FLORIDA

"This piece is meant to show the dark side of humanity and bring awareness to suicide prevention.

🏺 CRISTO, CALIFORNIA

"Making this artwork helped me practice using my creative side and support my self-care routine by allowing me to take some time to reflect on myself

Portrait of a young person

🖼️ SARAH, VIRGINIA

"I spent hours on this painting to make each brushstroke feel intentional. I wanted it to feel unrefined. That was something my younger self hated: doing things the “wrong way”.

🧶 SAMIKHYA, KENTUCKY

"I’ve recently been in an art block because of school assignments, and I had been feeling sad and exhausted because I couldn’t express my creativity while studying for tests and writing essays.

Drawing of a person holding a mug

✍️ BRI, GEORGIA

"The title of this artwork is "The Inevitable Caffeinated Future." I made it in response to my feelings about having no time and the desire for control.

📸 SILAS, ALABAMA

"I love taking photos, it's one of the many things I'm good at and it really helps me understand and appreciate the world around me."

Portrait of a person

🎨 XIOMARA, IOWA

"This is my first acrylic painting that I have done on a canvas instead of my art journal. I call it "Color Chaos" due to the fact that it represents emotional dysregulation.

CERTIFIED BESTIE

The second Camp Reboot activity gives members the tools to not only improve their own emotional resilience, but also support the mental health of their friends. Through a partnership with the Wellness Education Lab, young people complete free evidence-based trainings and receive a certification to recognize their new skills. It’s like becoming a mental health upstander – or as we say, a Certified Bestie!

I plan to use my certification to both benefit myself, my friends and my family… This course taught me new ways to view my anxiety, as well as how to manage values along with my own mental wellbeing. I hope to also teach these strategies to my younger cousin who struggles actively with her anxiety with hopes that it'd open her mind like it did for me.”

CHEYENNE N., 17

I will be able to better support my mental health through college and support my friends through this big life event/ changes that come with attending higher education.”

ISABELLA B., 18

I learned that mental health is important for everyone, and that we should all work together to ensure that anyone gets help that needs it, even if it is a stranger.”

LANDON P., 18

I learned the fundamentals of mental health which were needed to understand the base of many mental problems….I would definitely share this course on Instagram as it helped me in terms of knowledge and awareness bout' mental health I'd love to make it visible for others as well.”

SHARAYU S., 17
